Packaging That Matches Our Values 🌱

At Inert Protein, sustainability has always been personal to us — not just a branding exercise.

When we started, our bars came in simple 1/2 kg bulk boxes without individual wrappers to reduce waste. Later, as online orders grew, we shifted to individual packaging for convenience and hygiene.

But regular plastic never felt right.

Our Packaging Journey

Phase 1 — Minimal Packaging

  • Bulk boxes

  • Less waste

  • No individual wrappers

Phase 2 — Oxo-Biodegradable Packaging

  • Better than regular plastic

  • But still not truly compostable

  • Could still leave microplastics behind

Phase 3 — Fully Compostable Packaging ♻️

We eventually discovered Pakka Ltd and switched to their compostable flexible packaging solution.

The material follows the ISO 17088 compostability standard, designed for industrial composting conditions

The Trade-Offs

Choosing compostable packaging was not easy:

  • Costs almost 2X more

  • Cannot effectively use nitrogen flushing for longer shelf life

But for us, building responsibly matters more than taking the easiest route

Why We’re Sharing This

We know one small brand cannot change everything.

But if more businesses choose better materials, even small improvements can create meaningful impact over time.
